PENTECOST FESTIVAL IN CAMDEN

Freedomhouse and various other church's in Camden united to celebrate the birth of the Christian Church in May 08'. As part of the larger Pentecost Festival we organised a music event, in Camden Methodist Church in Camden.

The idea for the Pentecost festival was birthed by Rev Rob Frost who had a vision to ignite the city of London with the gospel of Jesus. Sadly Rev Frost passed away in November 2007, but his son Andy Frost decided to carry on his father's vision. We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to be involved.

Its was a sunny Saturday on Plender St, Camden Town. The building was filled with people, both young and old, talking, eating and enjoying the celebration that was held at the Methodist Church. The event kicked off at 12noon with performances by many different Christian artists from all over London. The set included; Shackelton, Sharron Nyarambi, Verbswish as well as other excellent performers.

The theme of the day was "the Church has left the building." Ironically this event was held inside a building but what came flowing out was what we hope to be an expression of the love of God and of the Church, that spilled into the hearts of visitors.

As the afternoon progressed the venue was full to capacity, during this time the Psalm Drummers filled the streets of Camden with an energy packed procession which ended inside Camden Methodist where everyone got involved clapping and praising God. It was great to see it full with people from all ages and cultures!

The next Pentecost festival is set to take place in 2009 and we hope to see more stories like the ones received from a visitor to the event, "I came along with family and friends, some of whom do not have a faith and found the most warm and generous welcome on Saturday."
