A Little Power Goes A Long Way

Write this to Philadelphia, to the Angel of the church. The Holy, the True—David’s key in his hand, opening doors no one can lock, locking doors no one can open—speaks:

I see what you’ve done. Now see what I’ve done. I’ve opened a door before you that no one can slam shut. You don’t have much strength, I know that; you used what you had to keep my Word. You didn’t deny me when times were rough.

And watch as I take those who call themselves true believers but are nothing of the kind, pretenders whose true membership is in the club of Satan—watch as I strip off their pretensions and they’re forced to acknowledge it’s you that I’ve loved.

Because you kept my Word in passionate patience, I’ll keep you safe in the time of testing that will be here soon, and all over the earth, every man, woman, and child put to the test.

I’m on my way; I’ll be there soon. Keep a tight grip on what you have so no one distracts you and steals your crown.

I’ll make each conqueror a pillar in the sanctuary of my God, a permanent position of honor. Then I’ll write names on you, the pillars: the Name of my God, the Name of God’s City—the new Jerusalem coming down out of Heaven—and my new Name.

Yours,
The One Holding the Key

A Little Power Goes A Long Way

Bible Breakdown//Revelation 3:7-13

Verse Breakdown:

7 The Key That Opens All Things

8-9 Love Opens the Door Before Us

10-11 Hold On Tight – It’s About to Get Rough

12-13 A Pillar That Shares His Name

Message:

Some of us might think we don’t have much to offer (talent-money-etc) or that we lack the ‘inner strength’ or charisma to matter much in this world. It seems the people everyone pays attention to have been dished out of full platter while all we got was a couple side dishes.

God is not under any illusions of what we have and don’t have. He commended the Philadelphians for shaking what He gave them and not moaning about the missing gifts. This is true power at work.

How many stories of people with physical or mental disabilities are out there inspiring us because those people complained that life “just isn’t fair”? Whether it’s blind Beethoven or Forest Gump, what gets our guts tingling is that fact that these people chose to be defined by their potential rather than their circumstances.

God profoundly inspired when his children let the padlocks of their shortcomings be his chance to use the Key of David and open up a door of long opportunities that no one else can touch.

Application:

I will stop continually looking and kicking at the many doors that seem shut. Their are many things that God has opened that I’ve taken for granted here in London. Bureaucracy or lack of funds cannot close what he has begun in Camden Town. I will Hold on to the promises He has made and keep walking…

Memory Verse:

I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have in order that no one will take your crown. Revelation 3:11
