NON-FICTION FANTASY:

For I am about to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness for my people to come home. I will create rivers for them in the desert…Isaiah 43:19
Flying Pigs, Ice Cream in Hades and British Wimbledon Champions.
What do these have in common? They all exist in a mystical land far beyond the borders of our provable, probable and practically pointless, ‘Province of the Possible’.
Everyday we are confronted with both the do-able and the un-do-able. Much of our time is spent strategically stuffing our days with manageable tasks so that we won’t have any time or space left to face our impossibilities i.e. dreams, challenges and the real messes of life (not just dishes). The entrances to those dark caverns called risk and change continue collect cobwebs. Can I get a witness?
The crazy thing is that the Bible is full of ‘crazy’ people saying ‘crazy’ things that completely ignore the simple laws of time, gravity and logic. Flying pig-like statements are all over the big book; all spoken without a dash of sarcasm or the slightest wink of an eye.
Isaiah said rivers would run through deserts (ha), Elijah kindled bonfires with water buckets (yeah right), Ezekiel shouted at skeletons (oki-doki) and even Jesus chatted matter of factly about hovercraft mountains that can float on faith?! I wonder how many in their audience mistook them for stand-up comedians?
So is all this stuff just hype for the hopeless? Snake-oil for the gullible? Or can miracles actually be a normal component of a Googley-informed, postmodern lifestyle?
It might be good to note that pigs have flown, popsicles can be bought in Hades, Illinois and according to a special ‘advance’ copy of a sports page I peeked at recently: British lips will kiss the Wimbledon Cup once again!
Can your hear that full-bodied beauty singing?
Sincere Really,
Brandon and Pamela Munoz
