Along The Way

Then the people of Israel set out from Mount Hor, taking the road to the Red Sea to go around the land of Edom.
But the people grew impatient along the way…Numbers 21:4
Eyes opened wide by a strange new light,
Ears hearing clear new frequencies of freedom,
Feet turned away from my own private horizon,
They seemed to walk alone, but not for long.
It all happened along the way…
Soon surrounded by saints with scars to show and stories to share,
They’ve walked this peculiar path much longer than me,
Watching, learning and imitating their patterns,
Adding a few colours of my own.
It all happened along the way…
Shaky steps into to unknown territory took me miles away from my known home,
Unsure knocks on intimidating doors introduced me to new faces of friends, allies and enemies,
The flavour of God’s favour, spiced with rejection’s steady rhythm,
An acquired taste I’ve grown to love.
It all happened along the way…
Many came and went.
Others stayed, prayed and played for awhile longer,
Every song and story left an eternal mark on all our heart’s – only time can try to forget,
Sharpened and shaped by every messenger sent.
It all happened along the way…
Send me out all over again!
Let these old shoes see much more of You,
Who else will we meet as we step into this never-ending horizon?
The same one that’s open to everyone – who can look You in the eye and say,
“It all happened along the way.”
Thanks to all those we’ve walked with. We will always be grateful,
