Our Story

Any story sounds true until someone sets the record straight…Proverbs 18:17
As the week goes by, we will be told many stories; some true tales along with our fair share of fiction. The storytellers will vary from neighbors to novelists and sources can fluctuate between magazines, T.V. shows or even those ‘accidentally’ overhead conversations.
I wonder what people will be saying about you this week?
Most of us don’t have a trail of paparazzi tracking our daily moves, but what if we did? What will we do today that can heard by everyone else tomorrow? The stories could be scandalous, humorous, or maybe even inspiring. Yes, many of us will never make the front page, but our stories are much more important we realise*.
There is an ancient account of a woman in Samaria who gathered her water in the town centre everyday around 1pm, long after everyone else was gone. Many horrible stories were told about her and she did her best not to hear or inspire any more of them. One day there was a thirsty rabbi waiting for her by the well. He asked her for a drink and they soon began a very interesting conversation (which was illegal by the way). When they finished talking, the woman started running around yelling, “Come and meet a man who told me everything I’ve ever done!”
Somehow, his version of her story made perfect sense. It actually sounded important for once.
Whether you are going to close a £1,000,000 deal this week or change the same amount of dirty diapers*, know that your story is a high-priority to the Author of Life. Your smallest thought makes headlines in his heart.
It doesn’t matter if your week is filled with excitement or tedium. Some of your greatest experiences will surprise you like a rabbi at a well, in the middle of another boring day. So watch out. You may actually make a front page or two without even trying.
What kind of story will be told by your life this week?
Skipping to the good bit,
